FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Pulse and IntrinsiQ Sign a Strategic Agreement to Provide Workflow Solutions for Oncology Practices

WICHITA, KS and WALTHAM, MA — Pulse Systems, Inc., (Pulse) the leading provider of Electronic Medical Records (EMR) and Practice Management (PM) systems and IntrinsiQ, LLC (IntrinsiQ), creator of IntelliDose, the leading provider of chemotherapy management software solutions and the premier source of Oncology data and analysis, have entered into a strategic partnership agreement. This joint venture solidifies Pulse’s and IntrinsiQ’s presence in the National Oncology market and provides customers with the premier oncology software solution in the nation.

Pulse began discussions with IntrinsiQ in order to increase the safety net for Oncology patients and providers. According to Saul Weingart, MD, PhD, in his article “Patient Safety in Ambulatory Oncology”, 1.5 billion patients are affected by medication errors each year (Hematology&Oncology Vol 5 No. 11 p 34-36). Oncology clinics received national attention when in 1994 Betsy Lehman, a Boston Globe health reporter, received four times her prescribed dose of an experimental chemotherapy medication and died.

This tragedy and others like it had one positive outcome. Health organizations such as the Joint Commission for Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations, the U.S. Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality and the Institute for Healthcare Improvement have researched and re-engineered patient safety procedures. For Oncology providers, this healthcare renaissance includes properly implemented electronic oncology software. This is where Pulse and IntrinsiQ come in.

Combining IntrinsiQ’s IntelliDose chemotherapy management solution and Pulse’s Patient Relationship Management solution provides oncology practices with unprecedented efficiency in patient flow, workflow and cash flow and delivers patient safety through automation and standards built specifically for each individual practice. Oncology practices will not have to perform double entries or work in two different systems. This solution’s comprehensive algorithms are designed to prevent human error and ensure patient safety.

IntelliDose will seamlessly integrate into the Pulse Patient Relationship Management solution to provide Oncologists with a comprehensive and user-friendly software solution. The integrated solution will allow clinicians to easily interact with patient demographics, appointment information, lab results, medications, allergies, diagnoses, vital signs, drug administrations orders, drug administrations given, chemotherapy orders, nurses’ and doctors’ notes, financial information and more.

“We are thrilled to leverage the IntelliDose product suite within one of the industry’s leading EMR systems to improve overall patient care,” said Bill Wisotzkey, General Manager for IntrinsiQ’s IntelliDose Solutions “Bringing comprehensive patient information to the clinician’s fingertips along with the tools and alerts to assist them in better decision making is how the combination of medicine and information technology will transform today’s healthcare system.”

Basil Hourani, President of Pulse is delighted with the partnership: “The relationship with IntrinsiQ is a strategic move that completes the workflow cycle for oncology practices using the Pulse Patient Relationship Management solution. The integration of Chemotherapy Management into Pulse oncology-specific Electronic Health Records and Revenue Cycle Management provides oncology clients with unparalleled workflow that promotes patient safety and peace of mind and solidifies the software as the premier oncology software product offering.”
