Seeking to provide better insights into the dynamics of the booming oncology pharmaceutical market (Pharmaceutical Commerce, June-Aug, p. 1), IntrinsiQ has added a “key events” module to its IntelliView subscription service. Through a combination of content searching and qualitative analysis, Event IntelliView is intended to show the impact of milestones like new clinical data, FDA decisions or pricing or reimbursement actions on the market share of oncology drugs. IntelliView alone can provide weekly snapshot of marketplace activity; the Event module, updated quarterly, broadens the picture to include product life cycle events.

“Efficacy is still the No. 1 factor in oncologists’ decision making about prescribing,” says Ed Kissel, VP of quantitative analysis at the Waltham, MA, company. “That is followed by safety information, and factors such as patient convenience or acceptability, and pricing. When anything information about these factors appears, it spreads quickly through the oncology field.” That, in turn, can show up in changes in market share.

IntrinsiQ has developed a disease-management system, IntelliDose, currently used by over 500 oncologists handling some 20,000 patients. That, in turn, generates prescribing pattern data that the company markets to manufacturers. The company partners with market researcher IMS Health, and PRA International, a clinical development organization based in Raleigh, NC.
